At the foot of Fuyan Mountain, lush summer trees flourish. On the morning of July 17th, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Virtual Reality Training Center construction project of Shandong Vocational College of Science and Technology was grandly held.
Attending the ceremony were: Zheng Deqian, Secretary of the College Party Committee; He Jian, Deputy Director of the Shandong Engineering Consulting Institute; Zhu Jiuzhou, President of Changda Construction Group; and Li Duanjie, Chairman and General Manager of Shandong Jianzhu University Design Group Co., Ltd.
The ceremony was presided over by Liu Fuyu, President of the college, with the entire leadership team participating. Representatives from both the college and enterprises gathered to jointly inaugurate a new chapter in vocational education.
The total investment of the project amounts to 86.60 million yuan, with a construction area of 12,470 square meters. It is planned to feature nine major functional zones, including a virtual reality experience center and an intelligent manufacturing training area, equipped with 181 sets of industrial-grade VR devices. The project directly addresses the challenges of "high investment, high risk, and high depletion" as well as "difficult implementation, observation, and reproduction" faced in professional training areas such as intelligent manufacturing and automotive engineering at schools. By leveraging virtual simulation technology, it enables zero-risk training for high-risk operations, achieving an annual training capacity of 20,000 individuals (including corporate technical personnel) and empowering regional industrial technology upgrades.
At the groundbreaking ceremony, Zheng Deqian set clear requirements for the project construction.
First, deliver excellence. The construction party must strictly adhere to construction standards, rigorously ensure quality, and guarantee the project’s high-standard, high-quality completion.
Second, prioritize efficiency. All participating parties must collaborate closely, rigorously control timelines, and ensure the project progresses on schedule for completion and handover by December 2025.
Third, ensure safety. The construction and supervision teams must strictly manage risks, rigorously enforce safety measures, and ensure a smooth and secure construction process.
Upon completion, the project will form a "virtual-physical complementary" teaching chain with the school’s Intelligent Manufacturing Industry-Education Integration Training Base. This will bridge the gap from virtual simulation to hands-on operation, creating a closed-loop skills development system. Additionally, it will provide dual support—talent and technical expertise—for Shandong Province and Weifang City’s virtual reality industrial base construction.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, attending leaders participated in the groundbreaking rite by turning soil for the project, marking its full commencement. Over 100 representatives from construction units, faculty, and students jointly witnessed this historic moment.
