Golden autumn brings refreshing breezes and fruitful harvest. On the morning of September 16, the 2026 Opening Ceremony for International Students took place in the Siemens Lecture Hall. Liu Fuyu, university leader, attended the event. Hosted by the Director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Department, the ceremony was joined by police officers from Exit‑Entry Administration Detachment of Weifang Public Security Bureau, members of the leadership team of the International Exchange and Cooperation Department, teacher representatives and all international students.
At the outset of the ceremony, on behalf of the university, Liu Fuyu delivered an address to extend a warm welcome to new international students, and expressed gratitude to the Exit‑Entry Administration Detachment of Weifang Public Security Bureau as well as front‑line teachers of international education. He pointed out that adhering to the educational philosophy of openness and inclusiveness, the university actively builds platforms for people‑to‑people and cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries. It attaches equal importance to Chinese‑language teaching and academic degree training for international students, keeps optimizing teaching resources, improving living support, and devotes itself to teaching administration and daily‑life services. He put forward three expectations for international students: first, to study diligently and think critically so as to lay a solid academic foundation; second, to abide by rules and disciplines and integrate into campus life actively; third, to learn from each other and act as envoys for cultural exchange.
Speeches were delivered successively by the teacher representative, the representative of senior international students and the representative of new international students. The teacher representative voiced sincere expectations for international students and pledged to devote themselves to teaching and education to support their growth and success. The senior student representative shared insights into campus study and life, encouraging new arrivals to adapt to university life as soon as possible. The new‑student representative expressed heartfelt thanks for the high‑quality study‑and‑living conditions and thoughtful care provided by the university, and promised to study hard and make the most of their overseas study experience.
At the event, police officers from Exit‑Entry Administration Detachment of Weifang Public Security Bureau gave a policy briefing covering exit‑entry administration, traffic safety and other topics. They guided international students to consciously abide by relevant Chinese laws and regulations on exit‑entry administration and raise awareness of safety precautions.
This opening ceremony marks not only the start of the new semester for international students, but also a key initiative for the university to advance international education and deepen China‑foreign people‑to‑people and cultural exchanges. Going forward, the university will further improve education, training, administration and services for international students in China, develop diverse exchange platforms, help international students gain rewarding academic achievements in China, and write brilliant chapters of their overseas study journeys.
